From Childhood Memories to Sweet Creations: My Baking Journey
Welcome to my world of baking! My passion for creating delicious treats started over 10 years ago, when I first began experimenting in the kitchen. As a child, I have fond memories of baking cookies and cakes with my mom. Growing up in a large, lively family meant endless celebrations, often featuring delicious Moroccan-French pastries that filled the house with sweet aromas.
During my maternity leave with my first daughter, I rekindled my love for baking and began decorating cakes for fun. What started as a personal hobby soon turned into an obsession. With each cake I made, I improved my skills—some designs were cute, others were a bit... not quite there—but it was all part of the journey.
The idea to turn this passion into a business came when my family encouraged me to start selling my cakes. I was initially hesitant, but everything changed after posting photos of my daughter’s first birthday cake on social media. The response was overwhelming, and soon a friend asked me to make the sweets for her baby shower. And just like that, my cake-making journey took off.
The Birth of Cakes and Sweets by Nihad: From Hobby to Business
As my hobby grew in popularity and demand from friends and family increased, I decided to take the leap and turn my passion into a business. In 2019, Cakes and Sweets by Nihad was born. I took the plunge and launched it as a part-time venture. It was a scary yet incredibly exciting time, but I was determined to make it work.
Since then, I’ve continuously expanded my knowledge and skills in baking, adding an ever-growing variety of delicious offerings, including cakes, cupcakes, macarons, and so much more. Each creation is made with love and attention to detail, ensuring every bite is a delightful experience.
With a heart full of excitement and ambition, I’m looking ahead, eager to bring Ottawa residents the best in custom desserts. I can’t wait to keep sharing my passion and sweet creations with all of you!
